From June to September, the biking and hiking expedition company offers spectacular two, four and nine-day mountain excursions into the heart of south Central Alaska. Covering miles of the states premier singletrack mountain biking trials in the Chugach National Forest, the unparalleled itinerary showcases some of Alaskas most spectacular scenery.
Our ultimate objective is to give adventurers a unique travel experience. We want to show them the places and scenery not so easily found by the average visitor to Alaska, noted Tony Berberich, owner and lead guide. Our commitment to well-organized tours featuring small groups ensures that each guest leaves with extraordinary memories, new friends, new skills and an appreciation for Alaska and its culture.
The tours are organized and guided by local riders with local knowledge of the best trails to explore in their state. They invite guests to experience a true Alaskan excursion — on the trails that they have ridden so often.
For seven years, Alaska Backcountry Bike Tours has been inviting guests to experience the last wild place on Earth they way it should be seen along spectacular wilderness trails. All trip leaders are extensively trained in wilderness first aid and CPR, bicycle handling and mechanical skills and gourmet camp cooking. Their enthusiasm comes from the sheer pleasure of doing what they love in one of the most spectacular destinations in the world.
Whether you are an occasional cyclist who wants to see the real Alaska or the mountain bike enthusiast who wants to ride 100% pristine Alaskan singletrack, with up to 24 hours of daylight during the summer months, riding opportunities in Alaska are almost unlimited.
The 2005 Summer Season offers 2 Day/2 Night Alaskan Singletrack Adventure and 4 Day/3 Night Alaskan Singletrack Epic as well as a high endurance 9 Day Alaskan Expedition Adventure, originally designed for the British Royal Air Force as a 10-day trip and still conducted each year as a training expedition for them.
Following biking routes and hiking trails which offer incredible vistas, geological wonders and historically famous trails, all itineraries follow trails through stunning forests, picturesque valleys, bays and waterfalls and dramatic mountain passes to glaciers, salmon spawning grounds, abandoned mines from the gold rush era, and along the original Iditarod Trail.
Tours are limited to a maximum of eight riders. 2005 trips run from mid-June to early September and are priced from $ 395 to $ 1895.
Alaska Backcountry Bike Tours also offers day trips and road tours.
