While working at the big kennel I ususally got a christmas gift. In year 2005 I got 3 little gifts, 3 lottery tickets. I got 1 ticket and the boys 1 each.

I think you’ve heard it before - I never win anything! We did. At first I thaught that she made a misstake phoning us saying -Do you want the Rotter or the Danler sled. But that’s impossible, to choose between 2 brand new sleds. after all we didn’t even got started. I had 3 dogs still not harness broken. This could not be right, that we won a sled this expensive and high tech!! I was a bit embarrassed. Should I really receive that!?!

After a long hard day of research on the web I called back and said -I can’t choose, she wouldn’t do it for me so I had to make a quick decision. Ok we went for the Danler.

It was a Danler European Open race sled, we even did get to choose the colour. I just love the blue colour so that is what we got.

This lovely boy I sold when he was still a puppy and I worked on the kennel. He got a beautiful loving home shared with a cat. The cat and the children was not the reason for rehoming. It was Gizmo, and his bad behavior. He chewed on anything, he howled and destroyed. The family was torn apart. We did not have the time ore place for him but couln’t say no. After all I sat with his mum while she gave birth to the litter and we raised them together Tittlina and I. He is absolutely impossible!! He talks a lot and loud, he really do sit down on anything! even the kids, it doesnt matter if they are a sleep in the bed. He just park his furry behind on their head.

As the latest and youngest member of our family he’s our baby and he’ll stay that way. Just got to love him!

He’s best friends with Sarek. They can play for hours and then go to sleep. Hes my biggest challenge. And he might be the best dog I’ve had so far. He is really one of a kind. In every way. Bright, knows what he wants and see to that he gets it. He’s really charming. But hard work.

I’m trying to write down the story, so far, of my life. A weekend on the trail. My very first experience with a team of dogs, in the middle of nowhere. I’m not ready to “release” the long article however i can share the same story I sent to Judy on sleddog Central. I e-mailed her the pictures, thought that it might be suitable on the fun photo pages. She wanted the story, so I did an effort. Here it comes.

Me and Kristina were on our way home again after a weekend on the trail. We started in Norway and crossed the border over to Sweden and back again. Holiday for hard working housewives. We thought that it’s always the women staying at home with the kids at the farm so we packed the truck with sleds and dogs and some food for all of us and went for the adventure.

We had a guide, Uno Stenmyren, but he was in a hurry to get home so when we met the reindeers we where all alone. It was amazing. I could see something moving down the mountain but could not understand what at first. Then I understood!!

Oh no! I yelled to Kristina to go faster! I thought we could get the dogs running faster so they would miss all action happening beside them, but the dogs where tired so we decided to hit the brake really hard and try to stand still and let the reindeers cross the trail.

It was a rather beautiful moment and I just hoped that all dogs should behave nice. No chewing on necklines or harness to get free. We had some miles behind us so the dogs where maybe too tired to hunt, so the meeting didn’t give us any trouble just the adrenaline kick it could have ended in a disaster.

It was beautiful but I don’t want to meet them like this again! It was maybe 60 -70 in the herd. I dropped my gloves and got the camera out and prayed that I could keep the sled still while taking photos, nobody would believe us without.

Like it very much, no people just me and the dogs.During the last week we went there probably 4-5 times. Mostly just hanging out but even making a fire and coffee. We had dinner there two times already. I found out that in summer time the place is frequently used by familys, its a nice place to take a bath. This time a year the only guests are a swan ore two and beavers.

Hm, how should I start? We went on one of our daily trips to the forest nearby. We have had some problems with wolfs here, they have hunted down and killed two more dogs nearby. I have dicovered that we have a lot of roe deer here so I decided that the wolfs might have left this area for now.

Based on my conclusion I let the dogs run free. We had a great time, the sky was blue and the sun warm and nice like in the summer time. Gizmo who are really playful chased apples I threw.

Sarek was at first surprised to be of the leash. He stayed close to me enjoying himself. Later he began to make some investigation of the environment. He disappeared for a while and I began to wonder where he might be. I didnt have to wait long before he showed up between the treas, hm…. somthing was hanging from his mouth! I called and he came up to me and gave a dead bird to me. Good boy!! Both a sled dog and a hunter.

Mine and only mine! Sarek is a good sleddog but have issues with people. A bit afraid and nervous. He was born october 2004 a cold day with the first snow already covering the ground in the kennel. I worked on the kennel who had about 35 -40 dogs. We were not meant to be, of course. How ever he was injured in a fight and was not one of the dogs that they wanted to pay the vet to much money for mending. So I said to the vet - I’ll pay for any treatment. Sarek recovered with TLC and some antibiotics. And was still keept in the kennel to be a future tourist attraction. Months went by and we fell deeply in love with each other, after all we shared a lot during his fever days. He did shit in my car while waking up after anaesthetics. I asked if I could take him home, and the answer you already know. Life is not all red like roses, he’s biggest enemy is Simba. And Simba is the treasure of my oldest boy. So we just go on, hoping that Im the true leader of the pack and that they stay out of trouble. Because mum see everything and her ears detect every angry growl.
