weight pulling harness for sledding?

Does anyone use the spreader bar style harness for your wheel dogs?

I am not a weight puller, so if anyone knows, are the spreader bar style harnesses for wheel dogs the same as a weight pulling harness?
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, dog harness in one hand, duct tape in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming...“Wow---what a ride”

I would think for wheel dogs that are taller, or pull hard that they would be ok. I've never used them though, so I really dont know.

Those were my thoughts as well. The only other thing is that I change my dog's positions frequently when we are running, as I have been taught that it is good to let the dogs get used to different running positions. If any of the dogs were to get hurt, it is a nice thing to be able to rely on other dogs as well.

Some suppliers sell WP harnesses doubled as Wheel dog harnesses. I don't think there is much difference other than the fact that most other WP harness makers put ALOT of padding on their harnesses and make them longer. Both still use the singletree bar.. I'm glad you posted this Christian,.. I was going to ask other's opinions on it and see if anyone used them on their wheel dogs. I'm over the average mushers weight so having that extra stress off the back of my wheelers may be better for my team, but I'm not sure if it would make that great of a difference. I agree with you about switching dogs around, certianly keeps everyone open. I always start my new dogs out in wheel, then move them from there if they show more potential.

I haven't used one, but I've been eyeing them. I have a dog that crabs, and I've heard that they can correct that.
