Equipment for Skijoring.

Most people will ask what equipment you need to skijor.

1. Mushers Belt - This is the belt that the human wears to attach him to his dog.
2. Dog Harness - When a dog pulls, he needs a harness to transmit his forward pull to you!
3. Tugline - This line is attached to the dog harness to your belt!
4. Shock absorber - Most skijorers will have a small light weight shock absorber connected from the tugline to the mushers belt
5. Skis and Ski Poles - These are what you use to slide on the snow with. Cross Country Skis are used. You have become a human sled!
6. Dog Booties
7. Collar
8. First Aid Kit
9. Whatever else you can carry!

Did I forget anything?
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, dog harness in one hand, duct tape in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming...“Wow---what a ride”

10. The dogs

I've never been skijoring before but it seems like fun, I've been skiing before but that was when I was little. How many dogs do you usually take? Cross country skiing is a popular sport for our schools, it gives our kids good exercise during the winter. My cousin did very well last winter I think he got first in his group I'm not sure. I gotta get skis for this winter and I'll try it out thanks for posting this I'll print it out

Oh yes - the dogs. LOL....As AdventureSource will tell you on here - he's trying to get up a hill with 6 dogs attached to his skijoring belt. As for me - I would just start with one, and then two. Some people are more comfortable than others on skis....and some are downright dangerous!

I just realized that the subject is called Equipment for Skijoring, so I'll take number 10 down as dogs aren't equipment or are they? Wow 6 dogs is a lot to be pulling one person . I remember my dog pulling me when I was 5 but he couldn't pull my older sister, she was getting so mad haha. His name was Alex Green, he was too slow for my uncle's team but I sure loved him. Yeah, 1 or 2 would be enough if I'm ever going to try. Anymore than that I might end up on the other side of our Island heh.

heres my list.. its interesting and a minor flaw...

leash
tugline/s
harness
skies
dog/s

So i cant ski.. or at least i couldnt when i first started so i figured i would make due with what i had and try it out so i put the leash around my waist (well hips, if you put it on your waist it tightens its self and... well by the end you look like an hour glass, but with the hips it doesnt tighten cause its on bone) and clipped it to the loop on the tug line which was clipped to the dogs. I dont think i would recommended the set up.. i mean it works.. but Christians list is perfect for skijoring, i just made due with what was there since i havent had time to size and get a belt which i plan to do this fall!

It was a blast though and aside from some bruises i wasn't hurt at all!
