Welcome to Bedhead SledDogs. We are a canicross / micro-kennel in Great Falls, Montana. Take your time to look around and enjoy the blogs. I have everything layed out in easy to follow pages so whether your looking for updated TRAINING beta, RACING, or Bedhead Sled Dogs IN THE MEDIA, you should have no problem finding it! I have also added an OTHER section, which is where I plug in everything else.
Nolan Taylor - Dog Runner and Clean-Up Crew Member
Kaylee Long - Team Vet Tech, Team Masseuse, and Treat Dispenser
I became interested in working dogs in 2003. I started by hanging around an Iditarod kennel in in Montana, where I was born and raised, and picking up poop; all the while picking the mushers brain about dog care, feeding, breeding, equipment, training philosophies, command training, etc.
Later I got my first German Shorthair Pointer and the world of canicross running became an option. I really do feel like dry-land mushing is going to be the way most competitive kennels are going to have to go, especially in the lower 48, in this age of snowless winters and warm winter months.
I am a 7 x NAIA All-American in track and cross country so by having my own ideas about human running, training, and nutrition and adding in the working dog connection, canicross was a natural attraction.
Our goal is to highlight what is possible on the canicross front, which in my opinion is right now in it’s glory days, ripe for the picking. I would like to see canicross in America go from what mushers do to train leaders and command dogs into what it is in Europe and South America, elite athletes running elite athletes. I don’t think canicrossing in America is that far off!
Overall…this is a site mostly just to store some of my training journal entries, results, and media scrapings.

Nolan,
Congrats on your recent race in Minn. Looks like nice cool race weather. I thought that it was awsome that race organizers were concerned with Grody’s experience. First place. What a preformance!!! I will be looking forward to hearing about many more adventures.

BTW,
I think Kaylee’s job of “treat dispenser” tops your “Clean-up Crew Member”spot any day!
