The blogging system has been upgraded to the newest version of Wordpress - which fixed a couple security related bugs.
As always, if you run into any problems just let me know at my email. So far the new upgrade hasn’t caused any problems that I have noticed.

Some reported that their blogs were outputting question mark symbols throughout their blogs, and this has now been fixed.
IF you do notice a random question mark that was missed throughout the system on your blog, all you have to do is EDIT your post on the MANAGE tab - and remove the question mark.
I would like to hear your thoughts on if you have any other problems, etc…you will also notice that on your ADMIN homepage you will see how much of your space you have used up. Hope you enjoy this new feature!

I first would like to apologize for the lengthy amount of time SledDoggin.com Blogs has been down.
To make a long story short - last week I was embarking on updating the system with crucial bug, security, and usability fixes when my power went out due to heavy winter storms. The power was out for 4 days and though we do have a generator - my internet connection was down due to using a local internet service provider.
Power was just fixed yesterday finally, so I spent yesterday and today getting the blogging system back online.
So that’s been my hectic week!
As of now, the blogging system is in a stable condition. If you DO find any errors in the system, please copy them and send to me at [email protected].
After the upgrade I did see that a selected few individual blogs’ categories were swiped. If your blog’s categories were deleted - I apologize for the inconvenience. You can go under backend MANAGE tab, and assign new categories to each post.

Hello,
I have decided
against the continued use of the Text-Link Advertising system site wide across the blogs. I feel that the blogs should be
available free of advertising - which I hope you will all enjoy much better. The previous ad system didn’t look very good,
and was making download speeds much slower.
I would like to take this time to ask all current users to invite friends
and family to use the blogging system and make their very own blog. New features, widgets, and themes are planned for the
coming weeks - so be sure to get others to sign on up!

Hopefully everyone has had a wonderful Christmas,
as I know my family and I did!
I would like to let all members know at this time of the new
advertising system that has been implemented site wide across the blogging system. How the system works is that it chooses
relevant keywords to highlight, which will then display an ad when hovered over. This system has been chosen over many
others, as I felt it is an unobtrusive way to include ads to support the blog system; yet still maintain a clean look. Though
ads are an unwanted aspect of the internet, they are necessary to help fund the development and hosting fees associated with
running this free blogging system.
The entire system is still in the testing phase, so please ignore ads that aren’t
targeted to the topic and different colors - these problems should be fixed within the next couple of weeks.
Also, if
you are wondering - the donation button the SledDoggin.com Blogs home page has been removed.
Please let me know your
thoughts regarding this ad option, as I would like to hear all comments.

Recently it came to my attention that the SledDoggin.com Blogs home page sidebar was not rendering well in
Internet Explorer. (there were dots, postitions weren’t right, etc…) This problem is now fixed and working well. Also, the
sign up page in FireFox wasn’t working well either so that bug has been fixed too.
As for the constant battle against
spammers, a new site feature has been implemented to reduce the amount of fake blogs (splogs), that we get each day. Now when
you sign up for a blog a simple question will be asked of you; along the lines of simple math or sled dog related questions.
This will eliminate the problem of the spam robots that constantly roam the blogs. Though we may accosionally get some splogs
that get through the system, this will help cut down on the amount we recieve daily.
As for comment spam, hopefully
the new Akismet plugin has been doing its job well for everybody! It’s a VERY smart program that eliminates all of the spam
each blog would receives in the comment areas, and learns each time you mark a comment as spam. To help un-clutter our system
resources we ask that you routinely check your spam folders (maybe once a month), and delete the spam comments Akismet has
caught. If you go to COMMENTS -> Akismet Spam, you will see all of the comments that WOULD HAVE been published on your
site if it wasn’t for the spam filter Akismet. After you have looked through all of the comments and made sure no “legit”
comments have been accidentally put into this folder, click the DELETE ALL button at the top of the page. This will delete
all of the spam comments in this folder, and free up some of our database memory.

implemented a site wide Live Help! system for all users in the community. This system will help to bring a greater ease of
service for every aspect of SledDoggin.com
On the SledDoggin.com Blogs page you will find a Live Help! button the
right hand information column. When I am online the button will say ONLINE and I will be available for instant chatting
communication for all of your needs and/or questions. When I am offline the button will say OFFLINE, but you can still click
the button and leave a message for me to answer as soon as I get back online. All messages will be answered in a timely
manner.
If I am online and you would like to chat with me, just click the button, enter in your name, and I will be
contacted immediately. The system that is used is similar to Yahoo! IM, or Windows Instant Messenger. All you do is type into
the box, and will type right back. It’s simple, free, and doesn’t require an email address to use.
It is my goal to
bring the best service possible to every person involved in the community, and with the help of this system it will be an
easier task to accomplish.
