This last weekend I went to a mushing weekend in La Pine Oregon, and here are some videos I shot of all the teams leaving the shoot, and me on the cart. Hope you like them! (they do get bumpy at times. lol)

interesting to see how it is done in other places, they seem to mostly trot? or is it too bumpy to get video when they go faster, was it a quad they were pulling? I saw a rig parked up but different to ours here, quite a weight per dog? realy seem to be getting their backs in to it well, how far? looked to come in well, would realy like to see more everyone :) .

Yep, mostly a trot at about 10-11 mph. When we come in though we get them up to running speed, as well as certain points on the trail.

We were running an 8 dog team, and the weight including the rig and us was about 500 lbs.

As for the other mushers, yes, some were using ATVs, which are quite heavy too. We did a 7 mile run, and then a 3.5 mile run; I know others did more or even less. There were about 45 mushers and their teams at this event.

Since we're sharing videos, here's a series of three short clips I took while running six sibes on a Fritz-Dyck TOM cart (I was using the movie option on my digital camera and so I did not have much control over the settings. And I was holding the camera with one hand while holding on to the steering bar with the other --- in two of the videos, I drop the camera, which might make you think for a second that we had a crash):

And here's a dogscootering video I took with my two siberian brats (they weren't necklined and aren't as well-behaved as they should be when running in harness):

Funny I've been doing this for 7 years already. Any dog can learn to pull a scooter trust me.

I think scooters are an awesome way to get new people into the sport of mushing - much less intimidating than a bike. By the way, thanks for posting that video. The Urban Mushers from Southern California are a really good group of people. Very nice. I think some of them are on the boards here too.

Great videos, nice to see other people dogs working :)

Thought you might like to see some of our dogs training here in Scotland, 8-dog sibe team and 8-dog hound team.

I think we need to declare a rule that all mushers must record video of their teams in motion and share them with others. Looking at some of these vids has got my blood up, and I know the team can sense it, 'cause they are all on the their houses, howling at me.

Last year I recorded hours and hours of video data, using a little DVR camera from Oregon Scientific called an "Action Cam" (http://www2.oregonscientific.com/shop/browse.asp?cid=30&scid=127. It worked pretty good, but with no monitor it was a trial and error pain in the patoot to get it aimed right to capture the video I wanted. Once I did figure it out I was able to get some interesting footage of a great crash - http://s273.photobucket.com/albums/jj224/Swanny1790/?action=view¤t=crash.flv

This year my GF gave me an early birthday gift. It's a DVR "spy cam", with the camera concealed in sun glasses recording through an MP4 DVR with a monitor that makes it much easier to capture the action. My first run with that was a Sacco cart run with my Hedlund Gray Husky twins Rose and Nels - http://s273.photobucket.com/albums/jj224/Swanny1790/?action=view¤t=Gee-hawtraining.flv

I'm really enjoying that little camera. With a 4 gig memory card I can get several hours of video and I don't have to worry about where I might mount it.

yay! video sharing!
I browse youtube all the time for dryland mushing videos..lately I've found some really good ones, and better thanks to those who posted them here!
I take insane amounts of pictures and have quite a bit of videos. Unfortunatly.. i could never find a good way to mount my camera, so the few mushing ones i have on there are short.
Here is my youtube page-

and here are a few links to the running videos i do have posted (a few are bike-joring)

Also! for those who are looking for a cheap camera mount for your rig/bike, here is a link on how to make one for under 1$ using basic hardware and a reflector peice-
<!-- m -->http://www.instructables.com/id/Bicycle ... -under-$1/<!-- m -->

NOTE: i have not got to use one of these yet, but have made one. I once just used a 1/4 screw to mount it on.. but i paid for that one when my bike flipped... broke the threading into peices and stripped what was before, useable. Now i have to use my little HP camera to take videos with when running dogs, even though i do have a larger, much higher quality camera, i aint usin it on the trail!

Awww, man, I was hoping that was an original idea. Did that this spring for my camera. Have yet to try it out, but I imagine it would work great. Seems like most of my ideas are that way. Go on thinking that I've thought of something no one has thought of before, and really, I'm wrong...oh well...lol

LOL! I'd like to come across some kind of mount that doesnt mount on with the threaded part of the camera.. Even with all the peices, i imagine if the rig/bike flipped it would break some of the threading, but who knows. and no, i aint gonna flip my bike just to test it out hahaha!
