Hello!
I am Raven and I will be 43 in less than a month and as of now located in South Carolina. All my life I have had a few dreams that have never changed. One is to run sled dogs. Well long story short I have had some health challenges. Both knees replaced and now I have a chronic pain nerve disorder called RSD/CRPS. It is quite sobering and one good lesson has been don't wait for tomorrow as there are no guarantees it will come.
So I have decided to start pursuing that dream! I know that I am not going to run dogs in snow in SC though I understand there is a well know fellow who carts here in SC. But I am planning on moving northwest in the coming year hopefully. Most likely near SPokane,WA or Idaho. Not sure.
I don't know when I will get my first sled dog. I have a Rat Terrier and a Shih/Chi right now. Luckily I have almost 3 acres for them to run around on. I figure when the dog I am suppose to have is ready to come to me it will happen. In the mean time I want to learn all I can.
I do have a history in animal welfare. I have been a vet assistant, kennel manager, pet sitter, taught pet massage, regional director of the Nat'l Assoc. of Pro. Pet Sitters, etc etc. I do understand the work involved and so on.
