In case you didn't pick it up from the username I'm Matt and together with my wife Vikki we have two Malamutes Ranger - greay and white dog 2 1/2 and Ria a Seal and white bitch of 18 months, they are dual purpose dogs working in the winter and we show occasionally in the summer - Ranger has qualified for crufts 2009.

Due to age we only had one dog to compete with last season and we did OK culminating with Vikki and Ranger taking 3rd out of aof 17 in the one dog mal class at the last Rally and Vikki being awarded Rookie Musher of the year by AMCUK (mal club UK).

Here is a clip of the me running the dogs in a reccie run after the racing had finished, it's probably very different to to the guys who run larger teams on real snow (that was about all the snow we saw all winter)

We both sit on the AMWA (Alaskan Malamute Working Assosiation) committee whose aim is to promote the working side of the Mal breed and encourage backpacking, racing, weightpull etc activities with purebred Malamutes
