How are you dogs homes set up? What type of bowl and tether system do you use?
here is the huskies sleeping quarters...the only stay out at night...i had to do some major escape proofing after this pic was taken...door is majorly secured...most huskies will only go after the door,as it is the place where they exit and enter...kind of funny..
inside the shed is an enclosure about 30 inches wide,36 inches tall, and 80 inches long..
they seem not to mind sharing, and i stuff it with straw and cedar chips...cedar to keep fleas and ticks at bay,and it makes them small good...they are also not allergic to it like some dogs can be..

there is also now a roof on it..
You have a great yard there with all of the trees. Probably from your cold, moist climate.
Our pack lives with us in our ranger's cabin  .

I need help again!
Can't see my picture :(
You need to add a .jpg to your pic URL. So instead of saying this:
<!-- m -->http://www.snowpacksiberians.com/galler ... Sweet_Home<!-- m -->
It says this:
<!-- m -->http://www.snowpacksiberians.com/galler ... t_Home.jpg<!-- m -->
Put that around the image code, and you have this:

Heres my kennel:

I use the pipe/rebar swivel stake outs, with each dog getting a 7 foot chain. The pipes are 7 feet, with 3.5 feet being above ground, and 3.5 feet being below ground. Each pipe had a small hole drilled in the bottom, for water drainage. Everyone's house has insulation, and a rubber door flap. In summer, I have cedar chips in their houses, and in winter, straw.
The puppies are in a fairly large kennel (its a pentagon shape, with 4 sides being 12', and the 5th around 16'. Their house is inside the garage, (its actually the whelping box, with 4 foot walls), one of the walls swings out for easy cleaning. They also have a rubber flap over the doorway, and insulation between the floor and box.
Hey Meghan,
If you want, send me a larger picture of your kennel and I will put it in the photo gallery.
SnowPack,
What a gorgeous area you live in. Looks like the Sierras here in California.
Thanks Smarties.
I was already told how to do that BUT was having a bit of a moment this morning!
We love where we live. Right between two mountain ranges in a grasslands valley.
Mind you, California has a certain appeal! :D
Thanks for putting up with my moments, everyone!
I dont have any pics of the dog yard bigger then that one, sorry.
That's just fine. Your kennel looks fun! Is it snowing yet over there?
My dogs are all on 8 ft. chains attached to 8 ft. pipes with 4 ft. buried in the ground and 4 ft. above. The spinners are flatstock welded to 3/4" rod which slips inside of a sleeve inside of the pipes to keep the water out. The dogyard is in the woods alonside the house. We purposely cut out only trees that needed to go for the dog spots in order to keep as much shade as possible. It is also slightly sloping and drains well. We made small platforms around the barrels out of some pallets that we picked up for free from work and bolted on with two bolts through the inside so they wouldnt roll around.
we we had the dogs in tie outs before but no have been moving them into kennels this year well some the new dogs have not enjoyed being in kennels each kennel is 25x20 and have taken time to adjust but we have wodden house that we paint every year which we are behind because the rain has not stopped
and we have a commnunity pen
we have sand coming in to fill the kennels but for now we have wood chips

Okay, I have had it! I am moving to either Canada or Alaska. Why does it have to be SOOO gorgeous in your parts of the woods?
:)
Wow! What a doggie paradise! :meditate:
well we have switched things around a bit and are deep in construction again LOL
our pens are 20x20 for 2-3 dogs the puppy pen is 40x20 and then the community area that attaches to the kennels is about
200ftx 400ft and then the added space of the run that is inbetween the kennel rows it is about 140 long and the middle is about 40 wide
so ignore the mess but here is a few shots of the kennel and where I am at I still have to move a couple of kennels and then start hauling in more sand and then remove some more tress and clear a couple of trails but this is a start

We actually changed ours yesterday, we did have hook ups like traditional kennel, but we decided that we wanted more kennel like areas so we had 4 and a new yard fenced in, what we have is out of the 5 that get their little kennels, the brother and sister share one then the others get their own (though Aurora does like to visit Wiper, i think she has a little crush on him) and the other 3 (the 2 original sled dogs and juneau) get free range. This way the dogs can be let out a ton, and there is a LOT of area to run... like huge! and we had planned on waiting to move them but we had a bit of a scare, there was a huge storm and one of the trees where one of the dogs was hooked snapped in half, thankfully they weren't out there, but we decided to move them right then, and now the trees are close enough to provide lots of shade but not close enough to create doggy pancakes! so far it has been really nice, here are a couple pix, its not totally finished, we are building new houses and needs to be mowed a little but they seem to enjoy it!!!

Guava has a little bit of a patio, but he seems to like (we let him pick first and he ran in there and laid down) it so we probably wont pull it out anytime soon
Mell I was looking and very nice job BUT do you electrify your fence? not sure if that is overly safe is it?
No, the fence isn't electric at all...
Wow, I wonder how I missed this thread? I just finished a pretty major renovation of my yard and I'm quite proud of it.
I have a pretty thorough description of the yard and related topics on my website at http://www.tworiversak.com/stardancer_kennel.htm

because the western provinces are gawd's country

We house our dogs in barrels, the barrels are placed between two shafts connecting a "roof" with a flat top and to sides coming down at an angle. I'll get a picture up soon so you can see what I mean. It provides shade and protects the barrel from weather too. On top of the flat roof we have a box that we put bowls in. The bowls are attached to chians on the dog house so that if the dog tries to play with the bowl it won't get lost.
We're set up in rows, about 7-10 dogs in a row.
We have swivels attached to the chains so the dogs can run around, the poles stick up about four feet.
Females are kept in heat pens so we don't have accidental breedings.
Brent, the handyman/dog handler, here is making a whelping house for the moms.
Our kenneling system works out pretty well for us.
