Okay, it may be too early to tell but I was wondering about who some of you think will place first in the Iditarod 2008. My two guesses are Lance Mackey or Jeff King. If you don't know who's running just visit the Iditarod official website and click on musher profiles or something like that. Just curious. Please vote on my poll.

I got to vote for Lance Mackey :biggrin I would've voted him anyways. Before the race I put Paul Gebhardt up there too, like always. He's bound to win one of these titles, I hope it works out for him and his awesome team. Don't his dog team always look nice? They're beautiful and strong. I also thought of Jeff King, the Norwegian guy (I didn't know he had a young team), and those who did well in other races prior. It was fun to watch some of them on satellite tracking, by the time they got into Rainy Pass you can see who's up front and who's not. I thought the Norwegian was doing so well, taking good rests at the right place and time. Everytime a team moved you can tell if they're tired or full of energy. I just imagined a lot and wow, it must be so tough but I guess they get used to tough a lot. All those guys and gals are amazing, the dog teams.

Winterdance was also a source of inspiration for me. I had been interested in mushing beforehand but never really wanted to try it. But my dad traveled to Oregon to see his family. While he was there, he picked up that book for me. When he got home, I read it in one night. After that, I vowed to try mushing. I also was inspired by the movie Iron Will. That's a great story. But I prefer the real life story (Winterdance.)
If she's been racing for like 20 years then I think it's high time she placed first.
All those other guy are great musers as well and are in the running. I think Martin Buser's son is also running this year. I think he's only 18 years old. Pretty cool. ;)

Winterdance is the story that got me hooked on mushing. :)

Dee Dee Jonrowe I believe has been racing for like 20 years or something like that. A LONG time! But the closest she has gotten to winning is 2nd. I just want her to win because she deserves it! She usually places in the top 5 or at least top 10, and has done well consistently for many years. It would be great to see her win before she retires from dog mushing!

Martin Buser, Zach Steer, Paul Gebhardt, and Mitch Seavey could also be possibilities too.

Yeah, I think she could be a possibility as well. I'm just going by the mushers' stats. How many Iditarods has she raced in anyway? Just curious. I think it would be neat to see a rookie win just to scramble things up a bit. I know Gary Paulsen is running again. It would be cool for him to win either because he gave up mushing and came back (an inspiring story.) I love the book "Winterdance."

Well, bye for now...

I think Lance Mackey and Jeff King are both excellent choices as they are in their "prime" right now...BUT...I am still hanging in there for Dee Dee Jonrowe, as I really would love to see her finally get that win! :)

Honestly, at this point in the season I really don't know WHO will pull out in front this year. Should be a good race though.
