Hello, I'm Ashley Brock, I'm an eighteen year old musher/dog handler for Thunder Ridge in West Branch, MI. Thunder Ridge has 95 K-9 athletes and competed in the 2006 Iditarod.
I just recently graduated from High School in May and decided if I did anything in my life, it had to do something with dog sledding. You see, it's been my dream to run and race dogs since I was seven. Balto and Iron Will hooked me onto sledding, even as far down in Kentucky as I was I still had mushing fever. And it stuck with me throughout the years. In 2005 in a training run I was injured, I had a broken fibula, a smaller bone in the leg. This crushed my goal of competing that January in the Tahquamenon race. That really made me determined to get up here and make things happen.
I own six dogs of my own, 2 Sibes, 2 Alaskans, and two mutts I rescued from the PCAS, Pendleton County Animal Shelter where I volunteered for a few years. We're known as the Pack Shack.
Here at Thunder Ridge I'll be racing dog teams and be able to compete with my own little pack is some sprints close by for fun. We won't win any awards or place high, but we'll be winners in our hearts.
