Wow, after taking a look at the Musher Listings on the Iditarod website it's pretty cool to see how many mushers have signed up for the 2008 race! It looks as if though the increase in entry fee didn't decrease the number of participants!
Now we just have to hope everyone gets the mileage they wanted for their teams, and that they accomplish their qualifier races!

Just took a look at your pics- nice! I saw the start of the Iditarod, and would love to see the mushers finish.
I'm curious to see how many sign up for 2009, of course there will be withdrawals expected. I think the Quest is getting more popular too because of Lance Mackey, I'll be looking for the sign up there as well. I enjoyed watching the red lantern get in this year, her name is Deborah and she's 62 years old I believe. Wow! I don't have the pictures in this computer, shucks! I loaded them onto my sister's computer in Nome and forgot to put them in mine, I hope no one deletes them from her comp! Anyways, if anyone ever signs up for the Iditarod that's in this sleddoggin community let me know! I'll be your biggest fan haha.
Thanks for the info. Christian!

Okay I just looked at the race rules online and it states that for the 2008 running of the Iditarod the mushers have to have written proof of the two qualifiers BEFORE February 15th, 2008. So they do have until about a half a month from the start of the race to get the qualifiers finished.
Umm, I will have to research that. :) I can't remember for sure, but I thought that they were able to withdraw IF they didn't get their qualifiers though. I will go and check the rules.
Don't you have to have all qualifiers completed before you sign up? I thought that I'd heard that during last years Iditarod.

Personally, that sounds WAY too crowded for me. I hope that there aren't that many people in a couple years when I go to run it...

Thanks. There's more pictures on that site I just have to pay $19.95 for them to show for a year LOL, they only show 200 photos for free. Some of my pictures are on private for friend or family showing only. I should of put them on the Ringo site but they're on Flickr. It was a lot of fun taking photos, I think I'll do it in '09, I didn't get to take very many pictures this year because I was in Anchorage. You gotta watch the finishes someday, it's the best!! I've been watching since I was a kid since I lived just a block down the road from the finish line, I lived in Nome from 8 years old till recently so Nome is my 2nd home =) Someday I'll put them on a Ringo account instead of Flickr, I got a bunch of All Alaska Sweepstakes finishes also - I went to all the finishes except for the Red Lantern because I came back to Savoonga the day he finally made it to Nome.
