So this is new to me. One of my dogs with blue eyes (not that it matters) has been ill and when I look into his eyes it is red and pink around the outside of the cornea. He has been very lethargic and completely not himself. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?

It could be some type of conjunctivitis (pink eye) you are seeing. Does anyone have pink eye in your family right now? When playing or touching dogs - you can give it to them as well. Is it JUST red around the eyes though - no goop or tearing?

It could also be some type of allergy. Is he restless? Itching?

There are a lot of possibilities I see with the symptom of pink eyes, and lethargy - but I would recommend researching his symptoms and getting him to the vet. When damage is done to the eye - there are times when it can be irreplaceable.

Let me know what happens. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Definitely not pink eye, this is in side the eye where it is normally blue. Not on the outside of the eye. But he is so lethargic and weak. We will be checking in with our vet for more info. My wife and I are both paramedics and are completely stumped on a diagnosis. He is ten years old but in great shape until now.

Aah, I see. That's odd. Never really heard of those symptoms all grouped up together like that! And the dog's color in the eye turning red/pink sounds different as well. I hope you can figure things out - and please post back what the prognosis is.

Poor boy has lymphoma. The pink in the eyes, I thought was liver or kidney failure but the vet said it is from a complete blood chemistry change from the lymphoma. The majority of his blood work came back fine. Blood glucose was very low and of course he is very dehydrated ( not from a lack of drinking).
At least he will enjoy the time he has left with his brothers and sisters in my back yard. His Brother just blew a ligament in his knee and will no longer be sledding so of course he has now retired to the fun yard as well.

I am sorry to hear that. How old is the dog? Middle aged and older? Give him lots of loves for me - as I know he will live out his life well! How far along is the cancer at this point?

He is ten. Blood tests are good so it could be awhile however he is losing weight fast so we will see. His brother knows something is wrong and won`t leave his side at all. Kinda cool how they know and take care of each other.

That's pretty sweet - it's amazing what dogs know, that we don't.
