Yesterday at 11pm at night my brother and I decided to do some canicross at the local high school football field track. So we ran through the forest trail that divides the school from our house's road, and then came onto the field.

As we came onto the field I noticed a "water bottle" that was left by one of the football players out in the field. So instantly the dogs wanted to go investigate. (I should have payed attention to their "wanting" to get to the "water bottle" so much)

Only about 5 feet from the "bottle," it changed and materialized into something dreadful and evil. A skunk. We were terribly lucky though. It already had its tail raised and ready to fire. I jerked the dogs back as fast as I could and ran backwords, letting the skunk run away. And get FAR away. LOL.

Then all of its other comrades left the field as well. Skunks were everywhere!!!

We only did one lap on the track because the dogs were smelling skunks, birds (that were on the field), and foxes.

In a positive light, I guess it was a good learning experience for the dogs!

Cheerful Trails,

Christian
