Scooter Run

We normally drive the truck about 2-3 miles to get to the good dirt training trails. Well, today we couldn’t use the truck and had to use the car. The bike won’t fit in the trunk of the car, so I broke out the scooter and loaded it up. I normally don’t use the scooter, because the bike is easier to help with. I planned a short 2.2 mile run. We got to the training trail, hooked up, and off we went. The first 3/4 of the run went great, he pulled and listened to commands. Then a rabbit decided to jump out in front of us right as we were going by. Elmo’s 6-8 mph trot turned into a 15 mph lope. After the rabbit found a bush to hide in, he settled back into his trot and off we went. The rest of the run was uneventful, but it was a rush once the rabbit jumped in front of us.

Ah yes, the rabbits. Is it just me or do they seem to lie in wait for some unsuspecting dryland (or snow!) musher to come along, and then put on a big show of running off? It’s enough to make any dog want to chase after them!
