Welcome to Wolf Moon Dogsledding! I am Alice White, a dog musher from Northewest Georgia. I work as a handler at Manitou Crossing Kennel in Finland, Minnesota.
I started out doing dryland mushing in the Southeast. My Siberian husky, Calypso (whom I call “Kippy” for short) and I have participated in both recreational and competitive dryland (non-snow) mushing events around the Southeast. Calypso is now having a good time with the other huskies here at MCK.
I hope to participate in some mid-distance races this year and my goal is to attempt the 400-mile John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon in 2010. I have entered the 2009 Beargrease 150, a 150-mile qualifier for the marathon.
Wolf Moon has big goals. I hope to eventually run a Northern sled dog kennel myself and compete in long-distance sled dog races like the Iditarod and Yukon Quest.
The Continental Kennel Club sponsored us for the 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 seasons. Last January, at the Blue Ridge Dryland Challenge in Damascus, VA, Calypso and I placed 4th in the 1-dog scooter division.
In February 2008, I competed in Wyoming’s Casper Mountain Sled Dog Races (aka Canines For Charity) with a team of dogs from Deer Creek Kennel. I ran in the 4-dog, 4-mile race and placed 3rd.

In March 2008, I worked at Northern Sky Lodge & Kennel near Fairbanks, AK. Here I helped care for 22 Alaskan Huskies. They were tour dogs and I helped hook dogs up for the people taking sled dog tours, as well as other kennel jobs. In late Summer 2007, I visited several sled dog kennels in Alaska (including Northern Sky) and learned a lot. Be sure to read my Alaska page to find out more.
One of my hobbies is writing Dog & Sled magazine. This quarterly mushing newsletter features interviews, news, stories and articles on the mushing world. In 2007, I finally put the magazine online so anyone can read the most recent issues. Visit Dog & Sled online at http://www.dx4solutions.com/dogandsled/
Thanks so much for visiting the Wolf Moon website. I hope you find it interesting and informative. Also be sure to check out the Manitou Crossing Kennels blog to read more about them and see pictures.
