Insufficient Training: Survive Your Performance Review With LMS Training
Every employee has worked, at least once, in a situation where there was not enough training provided by the company. We have also tried working with people who have experienced a lack of training, and have even been served by individuals in other establishments who have obviously had unsatisfactory training.
However, the salespersons are not the only ones who need to be given sufficient training. While they are usually the most visible arm of the company, there are also managers and supervisors who are very ineffective with their jobs. . The primary reason why some companies do not provide employee training is to cut on the costs that training demands.
A company might provide training, but they will try to make it as minimal as possible in order to avoid having to spend so much. Although not providing training for employees saves the company some money at the beginning, in the long run the company will end up spending more than what most employee trainings would cost. The company will be spending a lot more to compensate for every mistake of every employee as well as for every unsuccessful sale from an unsatisfied customer.
Given today’s increasing competition among businesses in every industry, a lack of training or giving an insufficient one can spell the difference between keeping success and diving into ultimate failure. Not only that, a company who does not provide proper employee training will find it hard to find competent employees to promote and handle more challenging tasks.
But the problem does not stop there. When an employee is not trained properly, there will be a gap in terms of the actual skills that the employee has and the necessary skills that are required to fulfill his or her job.
Insufficient training leads to decreased productivity, increased errors, and low employee morale. Thus, it is clearly worth the company’s while to take a firm effort into training their employees in order to make them competent and confident in doing their jobs. When a company provides its employees proper training, they will make their employees happier in doing their jobs as well as inspire significant improvements at the bottom line.
When your performance review revealed some lapses on your part, perhaps it is best if you look back into the kind and the quality of LMS training that you had right after you joined the company. If you feel that the lack of training has a great contribution on the discrepancies in your performance, tell the management about it and ask for extra courses that will help you improve. This proactive step will not only let help you do your job better, it will also give the impression to your boss that you are dedicated to your job.
